Pupil Premium Funding is an allocation of additional Government funding provided to schools to support specific groups of children who may be vulnerable to underachievement.
To be eligible for pupil premium the pupil must satisfy one of the following criteria: be currently in receipt of free school meals (FSM), have been in receipt of free school meals within the last 6 years (FSM Ever6), have been adopted from care (Post-LAC), and finally children who are currently looked after (LAC or also know as CLA). There is also a service child premium for children with parents who are currently serving in the military. For each FSM and FSM Ever6 pupil the school receives £1320 per academic year. For each LAC and Post LAC pupil the school receives £2300 per academic year. For each Service child we receive £300.
This money is spent in a variety of ways to support disadvantaged pupils throughout school. Although schools are best placed to assess what additional provision should be made for individual pupils, we do work closely with professionals and families to ensure this is spent in the very best way to support personal well-being and academic progress.
At Dinnington First School we use the funding in a variety of ways to help to support children in receipt of the funding reach their full potential and overcome potential social inequality. This might include improving attendance, supporting emotional well-being, narrowing attainment gaps or providing enhancement opportunities to the curriculum.
We are held accountable for the decisions we make regarding the spend of our Pupil Premium allocation and the impact it has had for pupils.
