  • Our Learning

    Subjects

It is our intent to equip all children in our care with the knowledge they will need to be successful citizens as well as ensure they are ready for Middle School.

We recognise that the curriculum at Dinnington First School needs to allow the children to have as wide an understanding of the world as possible, as well as a depth of knowledge to ensure critical thinking. We want all children to consistently demonstrate the schools values and therefore these are embedded throughout our curriculum and the children’s daily lives.

We base our curriculum on our duty to teach the National Curriculum and have designed it to; ensure high standards of attainment, reflect our vision and values, take into account the local context of the school and to meet the needs of all learners.

Early Years teach to the Early Years Foundation Framework. There are key areas of learning rather than subjects.

    The areas of learning are:

    • communication and language
    • personal, social and emotional development
    • physical development
    • literacy
    • mathematics
    • understanding the world
    • expressive arts and design

For an overview of how these areas will be delivered please see the relevant year group overviews.

In KS1 and 2 pupils learn through specific subjects.
