Online Safety

E-safety for schools involves protecting students online through a combination of technical measures  and comprehensive education for students, staff, and parents. Key components include implementing filtering and monitoring systems, training staff on safeguarding, and teaching students how to stay safe by not sharing personal information, recognizing online risks, and knowing who to talk to if they encounter something worrying.

At Dinnington all online activity is filtered to prevent access to harmful sites and is monitored by SOPHOS which is a piece of software recommended by the local authority that records keystrokes and screen shots if any unterward activity is sensed. This then allows SLT to act by addressing mis-use with specific pupils and by requesting sites are blocked where necessary.

Pupils often use Think U Know activities to reinforce E-safety elements, which are supported by further activites from Purple Mash, whole school assemblies, PSHE lessons and visits from professionals.
